Spare Moments in Baldwinsville 04-22-2010

It has been a while since I really thought much about much of anything. That is to say it has been a while since I really took to task anything, and at this point I am just trying to get it right in my head. I am frustrated, no that's not really the word for it. It goes beyond that, but I just am at a loss for a word that fits the situation. Where do I begin, with the roads, well no, that will be better later. How about the state workers, not really, this is all part of the same issue. I want to show the way but there are just to many ignorant people out there shaking there collective heads in unison to the situation without any clue as to what is really happening here. Let me get a little more coffee in me, maybe some more cigarettes, and we'll see where this goes. Oh and I forgot to write a little thing about the show yesterday. My stepson Justin performed his first comedy show yesterday evening at the Mohegan Manor in Baldwinsville, NY. Now although I don't w...

What Hath We Done

This little ditty was inspired by this little slide show . Blame the Victorians if you must, but it twas never thus, not they, nor the revolutionaries of the twentieth century that given us thus, but we ourselves, that in the blame should lie, as it is truly our appetite for waste and desire for stuff that hath bought us to our knees. The demise of the crafts, and the people within whom we entrusted to create that which we would desire is is our own lack of desire for quality versus quantity. We want more of the same, and lots of stuff that we can claim. We wanted so much those things that to us seemed to say we were rich, when in reality it only made us all the more poor in body, self and same. We have only ourselves to blame, not Walmart, or Target, or Woolworth, or any such barron of worthless junk and greed. These are but the merchants of such, not the buyers, not the providers of the emptiness that is pervasive in the quantity that we own, or at least convince ourselves that ...

For the longest time I really only shot pictures of landscapes and still life. I worked through phases where I really wanted to shoot people, because I think they are interesting, and because I was young and wanted to be cool with the babes. I did however find that Models generally suck, and I dislike the "professionals" almost as much. So I set about working with average people, but then that fucking idiot got caught chopping up boys posing as a photographer, and the whole thing got blown out of context. Yea, American Press for killing the work of hundreds of legitimate photographers. Gone are the days of walking up to a person and saying "I really like the way you look, could I shoot a few shots of you for my portfolio?" No now you have to have releases, and all that smuck, and even with that they suspect you got everything from some "fly by night" internet scheme, and that your real intention is to exploit them for amazing financial gain. You use...

Why Computers Suck

Because of the same reason I just hit return and this blog page just published, when I wanted it to go to the next box, not publish. Sure it was me, I should have hit tab instead. but I didn't and now I have to edit the post. No big woop, but it is. I have to think how to use the computer, not the computer learn how I work. Now that is a tall order, but that is what a Human User Interface is, and so far, for so many reasons, this is why computers suck. I could go into the HUI thing, but that is a matter best left to technoquest , my more technical blog, while this one is more for the purpose of just saying here's the problem.
The Speed of Light... 1/3 less speed than any other speed I moved from Rochester, NY to just south of Geneva, NY, this past May 2008. Although I like the area much better, many more farms, there are a few things that bother me. First is the lack of broadband internet service. When I lived in Rochester I was able to get Roadrunner service, and as much as I like to dislike Time Warner , especially since they wouldn't hire me when I lived in Rochester, I have to give them credit for having the best internet service. Living here in the back and beyond sucks for internet service. All I can get is dial up service, and even at that it is rather slow service. Going from Roadrunner turbo to dial up is like having a limb cut off. Well maybe not quite that bad, but almost. And why is it that I can not get broadband service here? I live all of 6/10 of a mile from a major roadway that is serviced by Time Warner , as well as by Verizon DSL. So what is up with that, they can't put...
Not the Usual Crap Now I might be a bit cynical here, and I am certain that I am, but I have had quite enough of all the bull shit. People need to get over themselves, in oh so many ways. I am no advocate for socialism, fuck that, I think the bastards that decided to use that term to mean communist, or some other form of government, didn't understand what a society is. I am not a liberal, not a republican, or conservative, or any of those other fucking useless terms people use to find disorder in their lives. No I am apolitical, not against government, shit even if I was what the fuck good would it do, there are too many of them, and more just waiting in the wings to take over when the current ones fail to entertain the current crop of blithering idiots that seem to feel the need to have some form of organized institution control at least 99% of their pathetically simple lives. So that established, I'm listening to Bob Dylan singing "Lay Lady Lay" and wondering if ...
Color Blind James Rant 1 So here's the deal, I am trying hard right now not to be very upset. Just once I would like to see someone make a color blind game. One that doesn't rely on color to determine how the game will be played. Let us for a moment imagine that not every person in this world is capable of seeing the full spectrum of color correctly. I am not certain that anyone has heard of colorblindness, but it is a fact of my life. It prevents me from driving commercial vehicles (large trucks, commercial jets, ships, and the like), and a few other not really very inconveinent things, but what really gets to me is that obviously game developers are not colorblind or not concerned. Sleep well... -James-
Blog Test I am looking over my blogs in the past on this particular blog. I see that I am still testing the waters, and haven't developed my style yet. I haven't even settled on a particular signature yet. So I will continue to test things, and see if they get responses. So far no one really has responded, but I don't really care, because this is for my benefit, and maybe I want to publish stuff that doesn't matter to anyone else, so it doesn't matter to me what others really think, at not in reference to this blog. I have several other blogs, most of them are more pointed, and some of them are even private, so I will continue to publish in some form. There is no such thing as private, as even though I may make a blog private on the server, it is on the server and if at some time they decided to make it public it is well within their rights unless I pull the data of the server before it can go public. Any way I have a bunch of stuff to publish here now so tha...
Daily Rants The problem is I don't always have a daily rant. Right now I have three post I just haven't got to. I don't mind deadlines, although I hate to think that I should set them form myself on a blog. I see other blogs that include things like new every monday, which is not too bad on the surface. I can sometimes go a week without wanting to post anything. Sometimes I will write several pieces and not post them until several days later, not because I am editing them, but because it just is easier to do that way. So I don't always have a daily rant, but I quite often have a weeks worth of rants in one day. -James-
