The Year 2011, Look Back

Link to full article with images that did not transfer for some reason Well first I will start with death, since it is the place that seems to be of most interest to most people.  Some well known people died this year, but that is true with every year, so I am not going to post a bunch of names, there are tons of list on the web that do that.  This year we all know about the loss of Apple’s bigger than life leader Steve Jobs .  We also should mention that there were many other pioneers of the computing industry that also past.   Wired provides a decent list of them, although it seems to be missing something, and it has some errors in content, it is a list just the same.  To me the really weird part is that I am almost their age, and wonder, is it the computer that has taken their lives this way. Well before I go down that rabbit hole, let me move on to other things that happened, and what is significant to 2011.  A lot personally has happened to me ...

Stimulus dollars for weatherization create thousands of jobs in New York

A big influx of federal stimulus money to weatherize the homes of low-income families is creating a jobs boost — at least short-term. This is the type of thing I am talking about, however will it be enough to stimulate the organizations to make the shift to self funding? "I see it as having a tremendous future, an opportunity for a person to climb up the ranks,” Johnson said. “There’s a lot of opportunity for individuals who are interested in this field.” He’s hoping the government will keep money flowing to the program after the stimulus program ends. “It would be a waste of time for the government to start it, just to turn around and tell people it was just a joke,” he said. That is a common misconception by people, that the government should keep funding the projects. They provide incentive capital, and it is up to the organizations to seek additional funding sources, through creative means to continue to fund the programs. They could look to local sources, but there is not e...

Green Syracuse

Why is Syracuse, NY not the location for technology. It could be, if it only wanted to be. It could be the center for "green" technology, if it only set its sights on that goal. Screw consumerism, and all the trappings that holds, it is not real economy. It is better to strive for something more stable, like growth. Environmental technology is not a fad, it will not wane as the economy fluxuates, it is a solid growth technology. Syracuse has opportunity to change from a lagging economy to one that is booming, through its resources of technology and education. The Onondaga County government drags it feet in the mire of indecision. It needs to set the goal to be the premier "green" technology community to achieve it. I read about how they talk about it, but nothing is being done, because they are mired in their own petty concerns. Okay, that is my opinion of local government, but from what I have seen so far, that seems to be their position. The Syracuse Dev...

China sweats, we might want to worry a little

Market Scan China Sweats U.S. Debt Securities, Pressuring Prices Melinda Peer, 03.13.09, 10:25 AM EDT Apprehension from Beijing regarding its the security of its massive U.S. assets causes prices on Treasuries to fall. If they are concerned, maybe we should be concerned. This is a big O can of WTF that is yet to be fully opened. I can at this time only say, wow, where did it all go, where did it go?

From the Alex Jones Prison Planet file Finance

http://www.prisonplanet.com/aig-reports-record-loss-as-us-rescues-insurer-again.html This article requires further investigation, but it does indicate what I have been investigating on the movement of the capital from the treasury into foreign hands. I am still looking into this and will post additional information as I discover further details. However, it should be noted that as we continue to approve of supporting these financiers because they are to important to let fail, we must remember that we have only ourselves to blame when they have taken all our money and are laughing at us as we suffer in debt we can never repay.

Done to Ourselves (facebook repost)

Upon reading several post, and with current knowledge of understanding, it is not surprising to me that which is presented here. However it is only half of the story, if even that much. First do not blame the governments or other entities as they were not the ones that allowed this to happen, we the people allowed it to happen. We cried out for this, and gave the people with whom we entrusted the ability and writ to do so. That and we spoke with our dollars. We continued to purchase goods at Walmarts and their ilk sending our dollars to these countries. We continued to show with our purchasing dollars and our willingness to be overtly subdued by media, that we wanted this. We are the cause of our own misfortune. Do not blame the opportunist for taking advantage of the opportunity we afforded them. The fact is this was done before any of us were alive. These deals you talk about are only the overt movements of what was covert long ago before we even were aware of life, period. ...

Economic Recovery and other High Wire Acts

A sane individual may state that all this talk of economic recovery, and the associated government policies being put through congress is a positive movement. I have read a lot about them lately, especially the white house blog , and to me it is scary. I am concerned that to much to fast is being done, but a lot needs to be done in a hurry to stem the tide. These programs put forth, the recovery act, the mortgage act, the banking act, all are probably necessary, but they are hard to swallow. It is the speed at which these programs are being accepted that is kind of scaring me. That and the fact that there seems to be a lot of transparency, but I am always concerned when they say to much, because it always make me wonder what are they hiding behind the smoke screens. The second point is how everything seems to be working for this President. The first lady is campaigning for him, the vice president is working on projects, everything seems to be working all to well, and that concern...
GM Seeks as Much as $16.6 Billion in New U.S. Aid Feb. 18 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp. asked the U.S. for as much as $16.6 billion in new loans, more than doubling the aid to date, and said it needs some of the cash next month to survive as it sheds brands and cuts 47,000 more jobs worldwide. Chrysler LLC, propped up like GM with federal assistance, said it’s seeking $5 billion more from the government and will shed 3,000 more positions. Now isn't this a sticky wicket? I do not envy Mr. Obama in this situation. There is a lot riding on this, although I do think the auto makers are making it a little more dire than it is, as if they don't the public sentiment will not be sufficiently scared to move their representatives to pass the buck so to speak. I think Mr. Obama will have to take a strong and perhaps unfavorable stance on this one, but I don't see how he can take any other position. Sometimes you have to let the old dogs die, sometimes you have to put them ...
The Speed of Light... 1/3 less speed than any other speed I moved from Rochester, NY to just south of Geneva, NY, this past May 2008. Although I like the area much better, many more farms, there are a few things that bother me. First is the lack of broadband internet service. When I lived in Rochester I was able to get Roadrunner service, and as much as I like to dislike Time Warner , especially since they wouldn't hire me when I lived in Rochester, I have to give them credit for having the best internet service. Living here in the back and beyond sucks for internet service. All I can get is dial up service, and even at that it is rather slow service. Going from Roadrunner turbo to dial up is like having a limb cut off. Well maybe not quite that bad, but almost. And why is it that I can not get broadband service here? I live all of 6/10 of a mile from a major roadway that is serviced by Time Warner , as well as by Verizon DSL. So what is up with that, they can't put...
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 29, 2008 Shocking Choice by John McCain WASHINGTON-- Senator John McCain just announced his choice for running mate: Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. To follow is a statement by Rodger Schlickeisen, president of Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund. “Senator McCain’s choice for a running mate is beyond belief. By choosing Sarah Palin, McCain has clearly made a decision to continue the Bush legacy of destructive environmental policies. “Sarah Palin, whose husband works for BP (formerly British Petroleum), has repeatedly put special interests first when it comes to the environment. In her scant two years as governor, she has lobbied aggressively to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, pushed for more drilling off of Alaska’s coasts, and put special interests above science. Ms. Palin has made it clear through her actions that she is unwilling to do even as much as the Bush administration to address the impacts of global warming. Her most rece...
I'm not sure where to place this, but I think it is important enough that it needs to go somewhere, so here it is... Watch This Video about peak oil. It is from one of my favorite sites " The Oil Drum ". I know I usually have more to say, but this video says it all. Cya, James
Public debate on Public Education Sometime around 1635 the American public embraced their first public school. For all the noble reasons that upon first scan may induce from this humble beginning Public Education has never been about educating the public. I don't expect that this will be an agreeable point for most individuals to see, although there are some that may have touched on the subject, the basis for the rationale is particularly dull, considering the true vision that is projected by a ill society. As I grew up through the public school doctrine the matriculation into mediocrity became the banner fro which I would continue to uphold that it was not I, but the doctrine of public policy that demonstrated the deviation from real value in education. At which point did I fully realize this perversion, is hard to tell, but it certainly is evident in my earlier works, where I demonstrate the need for a more compliant society, not just in the British colony of United States of A...
The Drugging of Our Children by: Gary Null Have you seen this? My first reaction... Have you seen this, are you a parent, do you want to be, can you believe this shit. Even if only half of it is true, which I believe that more than that is, it is completely unbelievable. Are you all fucking asleep, are you really that fucking dense, is your pathetic excuse of a life worth that much. Watch this, get pissed, and do something, now. I will be posting this everywhere, and writing letters, and making sure that everyone sees this. Maybe it is not too late, maybe we won't have to live in a "Brave New World". I really hope this does not let you... Sleep well; James
Not the Usual Crap Now I might be a bit cynical here, and I am certain that I am, but I have had quite enough of all the bull shit. People need to get over themselves, in oh so many ways. I am no advocate for socialism, fuck that, I think the bastards that decided to use that term to mean communist, or some other form of government, didn't understand what a society is. I am not a liberal, not a republican, or conservative, or any of those other fucking useless terms people use to find disorder in their lives. No I am apolitical, not against government, shit even if I was what the fuck good would it do, there are too many of them, and more just waiting in the wings to take over when the current ones fail to entertain the current crop of blithering idiots that seem to feel the need to have some form of organized institution control at least 99% of their pathetically simple lives. So that established, I'm listening to Bob Dylan singing "Lay Lady Lay" and wondering if ...
Facism is at Least Honest Re: From Heather's Blog Original Re: culture whores tribe Most excellent re-post. However fascism would be preferable to a false democracy or republic. Fascism is only observable from outside the state. Those that live within are blind to the regime. History has demonstrated the class system is permanent in human nature. The classes that exist are so well developed that even those that are in their particular class do not acknowledge their own class. Only the very top of the class system has the ability to see the classes that are below them. Let us examine the basis of this. The top one percent in the class system is always the top one percent. Two factors do not change. The top one percent, and the bottom 64% of the classes. Where the changes occur is in the top 5%, the middle 10%, and the middle 20% of the classes. Reviewing this we have 1%, 5%, 10%, 20%, and the 64% remaining. The top one percent are likened to gods, or divine influence. T...
